Practitioners
You can rest assured that all registered Niel-Asher Technique® practitioners are trained and qualified to the highest standards. Registration is reviewed annually and we strive to maintain the highest standards.
The technique
This revolutionary technique involves a specific and reproducible 'pattern' of treating the shoulder. It is a hands-on approach; a type of recipe that 'defrosts' the shoulder. Each treatment reinforces the last; we aim for a tangible improvement with each session. There can be very rapid improvements, especially for longstanding problems. Treatment can be painful at times but no worse than the pain of the condition.
Your first session
On your first session you will be taken through a thorough case history. You will be asked to undress to the waist and remove the bra-strap (if appropriate) of the symptomatic shoulder. You will have your (passive) shoulder range of motion measured and recorded and be put through any other relevant tests. You will then be informed of our diagnosis. If we think we can help, you will be asked to sign a consent form and treatment will begin straight away. If you intend to visit one of our clinics please read the consent form first.
Important information
Some cases take longer than others to get better, especially if there are other underlying conditions, such as arthritis, diabetes, fracture, surgery, rotator cuff muscle damage. Your practitioner should be able to advise you on how many sessions you will need within the first one to three visits. As a rule we advise the following, although there can be variations. (Treatments are spaced out a week or two apart):
- Phase III - Thawing (5/6 sessions)
- Phase II - Frozen (7/8 sessions)
- Phase I - Freezing (8/10 sessions)
- Early phase I Pre-adhesive freezing (up to 13 sessions)
We are committed to getting you better as quickly as possible with this 'hands-on' only technique. You should see a tangible improvement after each visit. We measure your passive range of motion and assess your pain levels on each treatment session. For the majority of patients, the improvements are rapid and dramatic.
