I tried it and was astounded

I wonder whether you, Doctor Cameron, or anyone else looking at this forum has come across this? If not, have a look at www.frozenshoulder.com. Simeon Niel-Asher is an osteopath who has worked out a very successful way of working to thaw frozen shoulders a lot faster than would happen naturally. And he has produced a really thoroughgoing self-help package for frozen shoulder sufferers.  There is the treatment book, which contains a lot of information about frozen shoulders, how to work out whether your particular type of frozen shoulder is likely to respond to the treatment sequence he has worked out, and details of the treatment itself. Treatment can be given by a partner, friend or bodywork practitioner of some kind. There is an accompanying DVD which shows the techniques in detail. There is also a book of exercises (divided into those suitable at each of the 3 stages - freezing, frozen and thawing), which also includes tips to minimise the pain when it is at its worst.

I am an acupuncturist and while I find acupuncture very effective in many cases of shoulder pain, it often doesn’t do very much for adhesive capsulitis. I bought Simeon Niel-Asher’s materials and used the treatment with great success for a lady in her 70s. She also found the exercise book helpful and clear. Both her levels of pain and range of movement improved dramatically in a short time.

There are masses of testimonials on the site, but as yet I’ve only had the opportunity to try it once. But I was amazed by the results.

If anyone else has tried this, I’d be interested in what your experience was.

I tried it and was astounded

Though few people in the States are certified practitioners of the Niel-Asher technique, one of them does happen to work in Philadelphia. I called and inquired about her rates, and whether she could accept my health insurance plan. Nope. “The problem is that the insurance plans don’t accept me,” she said, “because I’m not affiliated with an on-site MD.” Considering that full treatment would involve at least a half-dozen sessions at $100 per session, I faced the prospect of trading one type of pain for another when reaching into my back pocket for my wallet.

Fortunately, there are plenty of training materials to be found at Niel-Asher’s website. I opted for the CD-ROM, which recently arrived in the mail. It includes videos, diagrams, and everything necessary to begin a course of self-treatment. Except, of course, the all-important second person you need to knead your tender shoulder back to life.

I am lucky to have among my many talented and generous friends one who has just the right elbow for the job. Now that he has begun systematically working on my shoulder, I’m looking forward to being pain-free by spring, encouraged by Izzard’s testimonial: “My shoulder had been painful for many years! Now I can do semaphore with flags. Finally ships understand me.”

I tried it and was astounded

This is my second time with this condition. The first time was due to a traumatic fall.
This time, repetitive motion injury, and the opposing shoulder.
The first time I went to an Orthopaedic Physician several times and only got worse,
in misery for about a year, tried everything, including acupuncture.
This time I ordered your book right away, and gave it to my Chiropractor.
He was very good at following your procedure. and understood your philosophy.
He keeps your book on his desk and is treating several other patients with good results.
Thankfully, I got blessed relief in a couple of weeks, and I am exceedingly grateful to you

Dr. Asher! God Bless You.

I tried it and was astounded

Hi,

I've received the Self Help Kit, read through the materials, and my husband
has given me 3 treatments so far. We have a question though, that isn't
covered on the FAQ list.

So I'm 46, was diagnosed with frozen shoulder by a orthopedic doctor about
1 month ago. I've had the symptoms since November, and I would say I'm
somewhere between 1st phase and 2nd phase. My night pain has gone down a
lot, but isn't quite gone. I had a massage therapist work on me twice
before I received your self help kit and she basically worked the same
trigger points, just not in the order that your technique does. I think
that helped with the inflammation, along with icing it regularly.

Anyway, I understand its normal to have some soreness after treatment, but
I'm having pains down my whole arm now that I didn't have before.
Wondering if he's over-doing it a bit maybe? The treatments hurt, but
I'd say at around a 7 out of 10 and its very tolerable. Maybe I have a
high pain threshold though (birthed my kids with no need for drugs, that
kind of thing). We just want to be sure this is okay. I almost feel
like its my arm "waking up" again kind of thing. The pains are not sharp,
but dull and sort of random here and there. Also, today, after the third
treatment last night, the back of my shoulder (step 2 point) is more sore
than its been in awhile but I think the movement of the capsule is better.

We found the DVD to be super helpful. I am so thankful that I found your
website and technique. I didn't want to have the manipulation done, and
was desperate for an alternative. I understand that my shoulder may take
more sessions since I haven't had the frozen shoulder for for very long.

One other question that brings up....I have to travel for work for 2 weeks
(I'll have had around 6 sessions by then), so I won't receive any
treatments while I'm travelling. I'll continue the excersizes and
stretches, but do you think this will be a set back?

Thanks so much for your help!

I tried it and was astounded

Dear Simeon,

today I want to let you know, that I am really glad about the range of movement I gained back with your self-treatment! I received the book at the end of February (thanks a lot again!). First of all I am thankful because of the explanations you gave, for example concerning the sharp pain running through the arm in case of sudden movements. Nobody could explain this pain before. It was exiting to read the whole book: there finally is someone who really knows what is wrong with my arm and shoulder! I contacted 5 doctors before, had some physical treatments, but none of the so called specialists could help me with my shoulder or only explain the symptoms.

After 6 weeks of treatment (my husband worked with me twice a week only, it is not so very comfortable for him) flexion is 160 ° (before after very painful therapy 120°), abduction and external rotation:  improvements but still only 70°. And there was an amazing painrelief. I can dress my hair again,  drive my car (after 5 months!) and housework is no longer painful!

Thank you very much, I am so glad that you shared your experiences and knowledge!

Kind regards from Germany and have a nice day!

I tried it and was astounded

I took yesterday off because I over did it over the weekend. My arm was sore all night & it affected my sleep ( oh yea!). I read both your e-mails & got a better sense of what I should be doing & how. It’s all in the e-book but having you there is so great! I think I have a high tolerance for pain so I tend to push too hard. Can you explain why the humerous hurts? I wish you could supervise my workouts to make sure I’m doing everything right. I know that’s impossible but thanks for your attention. Janet

Simeon

The  information in the book was exactly correct, I had clearly diagnosed frozen shoulder ( x ray and ultra sound) Nick, my husband, did your prescribed exercises on my shoulder and within 3 or 4 sessions, over 2 weeks, it was healed enough to have no pain and significantly improved movement ( if you can blow dry your hair and put on your bra you are happy). Now, 3 months later I have almost the same movement as before. So the whole problem was cleared up within 2 or 3 months!
